Miami is a social city: a place that parties from dusk to dawn, a haven for fine dining, cool cafés and cocktail bars, a sanctuary of five-star spas and high-end hotels — in the words of Will Smith, welcome to Miami!

The allure of Miami lies in its international mélange, beach chic lifestyle, natural beauty & celebrity crowd. Whether it’s David Beckham creating a new soccer team, Moonlight winning the Oscar or Pitbull reinventing the music scene, Miami is smoking haute these days! The Magic City has always attracted a plethora of A-listers (from Sinatra to Stallone), but today’s celebrities are actively contributing to making Miami one of the top destinations in the world!

While Miami is best known for South Beach, the resort playground of the fabulous, the city is currently undergoing a cultural renaissance that has more to do with the cutting-edge art scene than tan lines and Brazilian bikini thongs (although, thankfully, those always remain in style). Art galleries stretch from Little Haiti to Lincoln Road, with the walls of Wynwood serving as a canvas for renowned graffiti street art.

Miami Art Deco

Exploration

Miami Beach is known for its beautiful beaches and sun-kissed Art Deco architecture. Stroll down Ocean Drive to experience its unique tropical flair.

Gallery

Art Basel, the largest art fair in America, has called Miami home for the past 18 years. With more than 20 satellite fairs in its wake, the first weekend in December is devoted to all mediums, from paintings, photography and sculptures to design and performance art. More than 70,000 art lovers flock to Miami each December, attended by collectors from all over the globe.

Famed for its international influences, Miami’s melting pot of Cuban, Latin American and South American cultures makes this American city feel mucho caliente! Visit Little Havana, where the city’s strong Cuban heritage is most evident, and spend the day on Calle Ocho watching spirited dominoes games, drinking café con leche, smoking freshly hand-rolled cigars and dancing to salsa at Ball & Chain.

There’s a dynamic local foodie movement with chefs cooking with native fruits and vegetables (mango, anyone?) and harvesting the nearby sea for stone crabs, hogfish and red snapper. Whether it’s the legendary Joe’s Stone Crab or dynamic Asian food hall 1-800-Lucky, Miami’s top kitchens are producing flavorful, bold and inventive dishes.

Dragging yourself out of bed in this sparkly city is easy, especially since there’s so much to do — and plenty of extra strong Cuban coffee as fuel. If architecture is your thing, book into one of the Art Deco Walking Tours, which depart daily from the Art Deco Welcome Center on Ocean Drive. The 90-minute tour covers not only Art Deco, but also Mediterranean Revival and Miami Modern (MiMo) styles. It’s a great way to get acquainted with South Beach.

Nature lovers will also be in heaven, whether it’s kite-boarding in Key Biscayne or standup paddle-boarding on Biscayne bay. Miami is a diver’s paradise with the waters off the coast boasting 50 underwater wreck sites to explore, including sunken ships and planes. Or take a day trip to the Everglades National Park, one of the world’s most incredible ecosystems spanning 1.5 million acres of tropical wetlands. Spot wildlife including bald eagles, white-tailed deer and the impressive Florida alligator.

Discovery

Miami’s nightscape is captivating, from brightly colored skyscrapers to pleasure cruising boats. Miami really heats up at night!

Like any bustling city, there is never a bad time to visit. Typically, high season runs from November to April, when visitors migrate in the millions from the colder parts of the US and Canada to seek subtropical warmth and sunshine. Summers are also bustling with South Americans escaping their wintery temperatures, wisely choosing to spend time in Miami instead.

A variety of major events take place throughout the winter, and at this time of year, partying at Nikki Beach Miami goes into full swing. Topping the list is Art Basel Miami Beach in December. Other important happenings include the Miami Book Fair International in November; the South Beach Wine & Food Festival and Miami International Boat Show in February; and the Ultra Music Festival in March. Nikki Beach Miami Beach also hosts an array of fantastic events throughout the year — keep your eyes peeled for our Mother’s Day Brunch, weekly Rosé Saturdays party and annual Fourth of July bash with pyrotechnics.

And if all of this sounds too ambitious, simply wander down to the beach to claim a lounge chair. The hot sun, white sand and turquoise ocean play host to fabulous people-watching. If you’re lucky, between catnaps, you might catch a glimpse of the many celebrities that grace the shores.
